Description

Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC owns and operates facilities in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska that produce anhydrous ammonia, UAN and urea. Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC, operates a production facility in Brandon, Manitoba, that produces anhydrous ammonia, ammonium nitrate, UAN and urea. In addition, Koch Fertilizer, LLC owns storage and terminal assets in northwest Europe with trading offices in Switzerland, France and United Kingdom.

Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC is seeking a Plant Operator to work at our Anhydrous Ammonia and UAN production facility in Duncombe, Iowa. The successful candidates will go through an extensive training process to gain familiarity and proficiency with all aspects of the plant equipment function and operation. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Taking instrumentation readings in a timely and accurate manner (monitoring pressures and temperatures)
  • Performing reliability assurance procedures
  • Sampling collections an daily inspections of equipment
  • Providing technical support in day to day operations of the plant to produce, store and transfer the product in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Operate water treatment system equipment, pumps, motors, control valves, piping, filtration equipment, etc.
  • Complete permit forms and various other inspection reports
  • Training process eventually leads to qualification of operator to run the plant control board
Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights exceeding 100 ft.
  • Must be able and willing to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Must be able to pass a pulmonary breathing test, wear a gas mask type respirator and full Level A PPE
  • Available and willing to work rotating shifts
  • Willing and able to respond to call-outs and work overtime as needed
  • Good reading / writing skills
  • Familiarity with computers to allow data input and self-directed computer based training
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental issues
  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.

Preferred:

  • Previous ammonia or chemical plant operations experience
  • Familiarity with DCS or SCADA controls
  • Experience with water treatment, boiler operations and mechanical repair
  • Computer skills
  • Technical School training (Industrial plant operations)
