Greater Fort Dodge/Webster County
The Fort Dodge area and Webster County has seen exponential growth over the last several years—proving that our region is dedicated to diversifying and competing in a global economy. The Greater Fort Dodge Alliance has partnered with Webster County and the state of Iowa to work in this effort. Together, we work closely with present and potential new businesses—and have developed a wide-ranging package with a goal to continue to diversify our economy on a much larger scale.
Tax Abatement
Our tax abatement programs allow businesses to postpone paying tax on new construction or building improvements during a transitional period.
Tax Increment Financing
Our Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program is a partnership between businesses and Fort Dodge/Webster County. It’s designed to redirect tax revenue that results from rising property values to economic development and participating businesses.
Enterprise Zones
Founded in 2000, the state-certified Fort Dodge Enterprise Zone is comprised of 3,487 acres. Businesses that establish in the zone are eligible for a variety of benefits and incentives.

Revolving Loan Fund (RLF)
This fund was established by several organizations, including the Mid-Iowa Development Association (MIDAS), the U.S. Department of Commerce, The Economic Development Administration (EDA), and various municipalities. Its purpose is to help bridge the gap between owner equity and traditional lenders on targeted industries in our area.
Downtown Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District
Since 1982, the City of Fort Dodge has gained from a program designed to create a pool of tax revenue that can be used for downtown improvements—such as wayfinding signage, beautification, and other projects.
