Iowa is home to some of the best colleges and universities in the nation. Here’s a look at some of our state’s top-performing schools:
Buena Vista University
Spanish for “beautiful view,” Buena Vista University is located on the gorgeous campus of Iowa Central Community College. The Fort Dodge Campus opened in 1975 and BVU’s partnership with a public institution has served our region by offering students an opportunity to complete their first two years at Iowa Central and transferring to BVU the final two years.
Buena Vista University offers a large evening program—which is perfect for non-traditional or working students. The university also offers weekend and summer endorsements.
Iowa Central Community College
Iowa Central Community College’s Fort Dodge campus is dedicated to providing a quality adult education and is an active community partner in our region’s economic growth. Iowa Central works closely with present and emerging businesses in the area to train both incumbent workers and their students. This partnership has launched the careers of many and given our locals the skills necessary to find success in a field of their choice.
Iowa Central continues to provide resources, training programs, and classes to our community that are essential for our region’s continued desire to remain competitive in the global economic market.
Iowa State University
Located in Ames, Iowa, Iowa State University was ranked among “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report. With over 36,000 students enrolled from every state and 125 countries—ISU has 8 colleges and offers more than 100 undergraduate programs. Iowa State has also become an international trendsetter as they have become first in the nation to use a demonstration farm to conduct research to further develop biomass production and processing.
University of Iowa
Located in Iowa City, The University of Iowa has garnered national attention for its top-notch research initiatives. According to U.S. News & World Report, University of Iowa ranks 33rd as one of the nation’s best public universities. UI educates approximately 32,000 students that can choose from over 100 programs in 11 different colleges.
University of Northern Iowa
Nestled in the quiet Cedar Falls, the University of Northern Iowa is a top, state-supported university with an extensive teaching program that ranks number one in the state. With over 11,000 students and 90 majors, University of Northern Iowa offers a well-rounded and explorative education.
