Ground was broken Monday morning on the future location of a new building for Peoples Credit Union.
Though intermittent light rain fell during the groundbreaking, that didn’t stop dozens of representatives from the credit union, city of Fort Dodge and the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance from coming to celebrate the new building’s construction.
It will be located in a now-vacant lot at the intersection of Fifth Avenue South and South 17th Street.
According to Peoples Credit Union, the decision to move was made after the financial institution outgrew its current location at 13 S. Third St.
“We have witnessed significant growth over the last five years and expanding in Fort Dodge to accommodate that growth just made sense,” Jordan Hensley, chief executive officer and president of Peoples Credit Union, said in a written statement. “This investment demonstrates our commitment to better serve our members and desire to continue to grow and thrive within the communities we serve.”
