Now entering Main Street Iowa: State coordinator welcomes Fort Dodge to the program
9 Aug 2017
Michael Wagler, the state coordinator for Main Street Iowa, brought along a couple of special guests to an announcement party Tuesday morning held at First American Bank on the east end of downtown Fort Dodge.
Neither guest said much. However they did, quite willingly, pose with community leaders for photos.
So who were these special guests?
Not so much who as what. They’re the new signs that the city of Fort Dodge can post to notify visitors that yes indeed, they’ve arrived in a Main Street Iowa community.
“The community rallied around to say this is something we’re committed to,” Wagler said. “Main Street is downtown revitalization.”
Main Street Iowa is a program led by the Iowa Economic Development Authority with the goal of improving the downtown areas of cities that are part of the program. The approval of the membership was announced Aug. 2 at a ceremony in Sioux City.
