Market on Central returns
6 Jun 2017
Market on Central will kick off its season Thursday with its inaugural event, which, for the first time, is being held at night.
It will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The market, which has been around since 2011, is usually held the second and fourth Saturday each month from June through September.
But this year, Market Manager Laura Bunda said organizers decided to try something new and have two markets held at night this season.
The purpose of the night markets is to encourage people to come out that might not be available during Saturday mornings when the market is normally held.
“It being our first night market, we are encouraging those to come down after work, bring your family if you wish,” Bunda said. “We will have anywhere from 25 to 30 vendors in our lineup for Thursday evening, and we will be having entertainment by Ace Jones, from Cedar Falls.”
In addition, Bunda said Cargill will be the main sponsor for the evening and there will also be a seating area and beer garden in front of Olde Boston’s Restaurant & Pub.
“We encourage those to come down for supper, stay and enjoy the entertainment, shop our vendors and downtown businesses if they are open still,” she said. “We are very excited about the season and kicking off market season on a Thursday evening.”
Both organizers and vendors are excited to try out the new night market and see how it goes.
