FD will host Market on Central’s evening debut
4 May 2017
A change to Market on Central will expand the annual summer attraction to evenings as organizers look to reach more people.
The market, which provides food, entertainment and shopping every other Saturday from June through September in downtown Fort Dodge, will kick off on June 8 with its first evening event from 4 to 8 p.m.
Laura Bunda, market manager, said families and those who are getting off work can visit the evening market “to have some supper, enjoy our vendors, just the nice atmosphere.”
The market will then be held every other Saturday from June 24 through Sept. 9, and will last from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Then, in September, Bunda said the final Market on Central will be held Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. That market will be held in conjunction with “The Fireball Run,” which is a cross-country road trip game show that is being filmed in Fort Dodge on that date.
“We’re holding our market in conjunction with that to get as many people as we can to come down to downtown Fort Dodge,” Bunda said. “Not only to enjoy Market on Central, but also “The Fireball Run” activities.”
The idea for the night markets came about as a way of expanding the market’s audience.
