Fort Dodge gears up to take part in Fireball Run

This fall, 40 teams will stop in Fort Dodge on a 2,000-mile trivia game across the Midwest.
More details will be available next month, but a sneak peak at the Fireball Run “adventurally” series that’s coming to town was given by Kerrie Kuiper, executive director of the Fort Dodge Convention and Visitors Bureau, to Noon Rotary on Monday.
Officials from the online streaming video series will be in town March 21 for an official press event to announce more details, Kuiper said.
While the series has some obvious similarities to a popular TV show on CBS, there are big differences as well.
“It is kind of like the ‘Amazing Race,’ but there is more of a focus on the communities they visit,” Kuiper said. “They say it is like a combination of the ‘Amazing Race,’ ‘How It’s Made,’ ‘Dirty Jobs’ and a history and travel show.”
The show features eight locations over 26 episodes.
And the contestants aren’t racing for a cash prize: The only reward is a plastic road sign — and bragging rights.
The community has done a tremendous amount of work to bring the series here to highlight Fort Dodge, Kuiper said.
