MidAmerican Energy Co. may be the first business to move into the new Crosstown Connector Industrial Park in Fort Dodge, city officials announced Monday.
The utility company would build a new service center there, and the city government would construct a new road that will link that center and the rest of the industrial park to Fifth Avenue South. The City Council on Monday unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with the company that would lead to the creation of the new service center and the new road.
''Nothing is finalized yet,'' Debora Blume, a MidAmerican Energy spokeswoman, said Monday night. ''With the memorandum of understanding approved, we would hope to have our planning complete by the end of the year.''
Blume said the new center would support gas and electric operations in the Fort Dodge area.
