MIDAS Council of Governments, a six-county regional planning agency in northwest Iowa is currently undergoing exciting transformations. We are seeking a forward-thinking Planner I or II to join our team and help us grow! As a Planner I or II, you will provide planning, zoning, and development assistance to member communities in Pathfinder’s six-county region. Typical projects include comprehensive plans, zoning/subdivision ordinances, recreation plans, hazard mitigation plans, housing plans, and grant writing and project management. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be familiar with public sector planning, and have exceptional oral and written communication skill. Three years of successful performance of professional level duties in community planning and development is preferred, but we will consider a motivated entry-level candidate that exhibits a strong sense of initiative and long-term commitment to community planning and development in rural Iowa.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Geography, English, Sociology, or related field, or equivalent experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel are required; proficiency in ArcGIS is strongly desired. The position requires travel and night meetings. A valid driver’s license is required.
