Employee will provide administrative support to attorneys and other staff in the County Attorney office. The ability to interact with the public, excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with Microsoft Office required, experience with Iowa Courts Online, ProLaw and/or EDMS desirable. DEMONSTRATED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to deal with the public in person and over the telephone in a courteous manner. Ability to establish effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, other county employees and officials and the public. Proficiency in the legal clerical procedures, such as typing, filing and record keeping. Familiarity with the legal process and terms. Knowledge of proper English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Ability to proofread and check work for accuracy. Ability to accurately perform basic math functions. Ability to work in a high stress atmosphere interacting with upset people, both in person and on the phone. Ability to operate a computer and software for data entry and retrieval and word processing. Ability to exercise independent judgement in the performance of duties. Ability to work with and around confidential information. WORK REQUIREMENTS Fast paced Office with constant interruptions. Ability to perform multiple tasks at once (answer phone, greet public, and return to task you were performing before interruption). PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES PUBLIC RELATIONS Establishes a positive public relations image of the County through: - the effective handling of incoming telephone calls; - personal contact with other employees, citizens, and elected officials; and - providing assistance of the highest quality to County citizens.
High School Diploma or GED. Vocational Training in secretarial field and/or on the job experience. Preferably two (2) years of related experience is desirable.
