With a land purchase approved Tuesday morning, Webster County will now own all the land between Harvest and Grain avenues in the ag/industrial park west of Fort Dodge.
The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of about 40.4 acres for $23,500 per acre, or about $949,400 total, for what’s called parcel No.2. Three such parcels have been purchased this year.
“With this purchase we own the whole thing between both roads,” Supervisor Keith Dencklau said.
Cargill Inc. plans to purchase the eastern portion of the area between the roads, Supervisor Merrill Leffler said.
“This will be over three payments; 10 percent down today, 40 percent paid on Nov. 15 this year, and the balance of 50 percent April next year,” said attorney Steve Kersten, who has assisted the board with the three purchases this year.
