For 10 years, The Messenger’s Bridal Spectacular has been the top spot for anyone who’s tying the knot.
The 10th annual event will be held Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Career Education Building at Iowa Central Community College.
Brides and grooms have a lot of vendors they need to connect with, and what better chance than when they’re all together in one room, said Regina Suhrbier, the multimedia sales manager for The Messenger.
“Helping local businesses promote their goods and services is our specialty,” said Suhrbier. “Bringing this to brides seemed like a natural fit for us.”
There will be no wedding fashion show this year.
Instead, new at this year’s bridal spectacular will be two special presentations.
At 2 p.m. visitors can learn from Dinner 4 Two how to create a Harvest Salad–perfect for serving at a wedding shower, Suhrbier said.
At 3 p.m. Hummingbird Confections will present on cupcakes versus sheet cakes, and why a wedding might choose to feature a fake cake.
“A lot of wedding cakes are not made from cake. They’re just for show,” Suhrbier said.
Also new this year, the door prizes will be separated by category, she said. Attendees can put their name into the category of goods or services they need for a chance to win items in that category.
Attendees can come and go, and won’t need to be present to win, she said.
