A $5,000 grant has been awarded to help pay for the architectural work needed to revitalize the Warden Plaza in downtown Fort Dodge.

Aureon, a business solutions company, and the Iowa Area Development Group awarded the Ripple Effect grant to the Fort Dodge Community Foundation.

''The Ripple Effect grant and other local grants will help develop a plan to restore a centerpiece of the Fort Dodge community that has the potential to be a culture changer for downtown Fort Dodge,'' said Randy Kuhlman the chief executive officer of the foundation.

Kuhlman said the money will help pay for developing a conceptual layout for the bottom two floors of the building in the 900 block of First Avenue South. That layout will also include a recreation center attached to the existing building.
