When Larry Jessen started out as general manager at the Crossroads Mall, the mall had only been enclosed for a few years.
"The common area from here to Sears was all open air," said Jessen, standing in the staff room just next to JCPenny.
Jessen was honored by his staff with a surprise party celebrating his 35 years at the mall Thursday noon.
"Melissa said this would be a small luncheon just for the staff," he said.
Instead, Marketing Director Melissa Verschoor invited business owners from inside and outside the mall, members from the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, and Jessen's family, to name a few.
