The governor and lieutenant governor had praise for Fort Dodge Thursday during a lunchtime speech at the 2016 Fall Conference of the Professional Developers of Iowa.
Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds spoke to about 200 economic development officials at the conference, which is being held at the Best Western Starlite Village Inn & Suites.
Since taking office in 2011, Branstad said it's been his goal to make Iowa attractive to businesses.
"We made it our mission to restore Iowa's reputation as a state that is open for business and aggressively seeking and encouraging existing businesses to expand and grow and new companies to come to this state," Branstad said.
He added that his goals include creating 200,000 jobs and raising family incomes.
In order to be successful, Branstad said communities need to have a prepared workforce.
He cited the Fort Dodge area as an example of how that's successful.
