Qualifications:

Requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in in the social or behavioral sciences with necessary courses to meet certification standards. The employee will seek certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) and subsequently as an International Alcohol & Drug Counselor (IADC), as soon as the person can meet the qualifications per the Iowa Board of Certification standards.



Responsibilities:

At Community & Family Resources (CFR), our staff has the opportunity to provide support at many different levels with youth as well as adults. Our teams at CFR consist of highly qualified and motivated staff that has a passion for working with people and specifically assisting those who have or have had a struggle with substance use and the disease of addiction. Many of the people we serve have also struggled with poor decision making, legal issues, homelessness, mental health disorders, health issues, financial issues, and family issues leaving them with minimal support. Our team at CFR works together to provide support and instill hope for the people we work with. We provide education regarding alternatives that are available and the hope of achieving a healthy and happy lifestyle. CFR is currently seeking a Residential Counselor for our Adult Residential Unit at our newly opened Central Campus in Fort Dodge. Tasks for this position include providing chemical dependency and gambling habilitative and rehabilitation services to substance abusers, problem gamblers, and their families. This includes providing assessments, individual or family treatment, group treatment, education or prevention services and support services. This also includes maintaining appropriate client case records, providing referral resources, and treatment planning.
