Education and Experience: • Doctorate Degree OR • Master’s degree and 3 years of directly related experience • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of directly related experience OR • Associate’s Degree and 10 years of directly related experience OR • Previous Process Development and Project Leadership required • Fermentation, Refinery or related technology experience required

Responsibilities:
Job Summary: The position is responsible for researching, planning, training, executing and facilitating operational improvement programs to create a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing that leads to employee empowerment, elimination of waste, and KPI improvement (safety, quality, productivity, lead time, service, cost). Summary of Essential Job Functions: • Review production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services. This includes, but is not limited to, production schedules, process flows and engineering specifications. • Design control systems to minimize and resolve production issues and project costs • Create systems and plan production to ensure all products meet quality control standards • Develop standards for production and design by working with management • Performs analysis of operations and maintenance data to perform root cause analysis and to identify opportunities for improvement, and makes recommendations for such improvements; • Ensure compliance with all company and local regulatory standards and requirements. • Act as a change agent in the organization by driving change and implementing continuous improvement processes, while utilizing and improving existing methodologies • Promote lean manufacturing practices by educating the organization in the use of lean principles • Utilize lean manufacturing tools (i.e. value stream mapping, , root cause problem solving) to identify and develop solutions that drive operational improvement • Provide leadership by mentoring employees in the use of lean tools, ensuring transfer of knowledge, and creating a culture of continuous improvement. • Track, monitor and report regularly on status of projects • Monitor product and process improvement milestones to ensure on-time completion and sustainability • Analyze, develop, ratify, implement, and standardize manufacturing best practices • Identify gaps inhibiting the success or mindset transformation needs to achieve a continuous improvement culture • Audit all established lean manufacturing processes • Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: • Ability to participate in a high performance team-based environment that is fast-learning and adaptive; • Knowledge of production processes, costs, quality control, raw materials and other methods for maximizing the efficient manufacture and distribution of goods. • Advanced knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. • Ability to design and understand precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models. • Knowledge of the ways various systems interact and how changes in operations, the environment and other conditions will affect outcomes. • Ability to communicate effectively and participate in a continuous improvement culture, including utilizing problem solving skills; • Review production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services. This includes, but is not limited to, production schedules, process flows and engineering specs. • Work in a safe manner; • Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel; SAP, HMI • Critical thinking, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills; • Attention to detail; • Must be able to maintain confidentiality; Physical Demands & Work Environment: • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, however business needs may require additional hours worked • This position works primarily in an office environment, but may also work in manufacturing environment which includes exposure to moving parts, high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions, temperatures, chemicals, high pressure steam, dust • Frequently walks extended distances • Frequently ascend/descend stairs extensively • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders • Minimal travel is expected for this position • Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 85% of shift • Must be able to move about the facility in order to complete projects up to 15 % of their shift • Ability to work in confined spaces as necessary • Ability to work at heights as necessary • Ability to lift up 50 pounds as necessary
