Food Assistance Outreach Coordinator (exempt, part-time)

Possess professional maturity, good judgment, integrity and honesty Commitment to Food Bank of Iowa’s vision, mission and values Completion of high school or GED minimum 100% travel within Iowa, including nights and occasionally weekends Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car Bi-lingual – ability to speak and understand Spanish is preferred, but not required Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
Attend outreach events encouraging and assisting eligible clients to enroll for SNAP benefits Report application numbers to be used for compliance and grant reporting Assist in planning county efforts and schedule outreach efforts to ensure each county is served optimally Produce accurate mileage and expense reports and submit in a timely manner Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and appropriate internal control safeguards which are relevant to your work responsibilities. Incorporate trained volunteers where applicable and beneficial
Critical Working Relationships The Food Assistance Outreach Coordinator will work in a collaborative manner with the Regional Partnership Coordinators to drive toward meeting FBOI strategic objectives, completion of important projects, and fulfillment of the organization’s mission Decision Making Examples SITUATION: A county is not meeting food distribution expectations and/or SNAP applications. DECISION: The Food Assistance Outreach Coordinator will contact partners in that area to determine opportunities for outreach visits. He/she will also make certain the partner agency has a supply of SNAP hotline materials and encourages clients to take advantage of food assistance programs.
