MidAmerican Energy meets its customers’ demand for electricity with more than 7,000 megawatts of owned generating capacity. Approximately 48% is fueled by coal; 26% by wind; 19% by natural gas and oil; 6% by nuclear; and less than 1% by other sources, such as hydroelectric. A peak demand record of more than 4,700 megawatts was set July 19, 2011.
