National Gypsum is Quality Plant of the Year
FD plant earns top award from parent company
National Gypsum Co.'s Fort Dodge plant and quarry have earned the company's annual Quality Plant of the Year award for 2008.
Fort Dodge associates and Plant Manager Terry Peterson have a long history of top performance. This is the fifth time Fort Dodge has won National Gypsum's Plant of the Year award instituted 20 years ago.
The plant has been among the top five plants in each of the past 12 years, an accomplishment Senior Vice President Jerry Carroll calls "a remarkable record of consistency and quality." National Gypsum currently operates a network of 17 wallboard manufacturing plants.
The Quality Plant of the Year award is based on four factors:
Percent of products without defects as reported by the plant's customers,
Percent of orders without a service complaint,
Quality audit score,
Evaluation of the NGC Quality Committee.
Fort Dodge scored 90.66 points out of a possible 100 to capture the 2008 award. The plant and quarry also earned the company's top safety award, working 169,705 hours without a single recordable accident.
